To celebrate the end of the club’s 10th season, the retirement of Keith 'The Koach' Hardisty as Direktor of Koaching, and also to showcase our Senior Women’s team, we held a gala dinner (some might say 'galah' dinner) on Saturday 29th October. The Danish Folk Dancing dynamo, Keith Hardisty, didn't perform the Doudlebska Polka or the Gärdeby Gånglåt, but instead delegated the task of entertainment to Gaelic Dream, who provided the crowd with half time entertainment.
Many thanks to our guests, Dr Bruce Flegg who presented awards to those who had served on the committee more than three years, and Councillor Margaret de Witt who presented Keith Hardisty with a 'retirement' award (yeah, we believe it... the womens team have already scheduled their first training session with him next year).
Our paparazzi was out and about and we'll have some shots just as soon as he wakes up. For the next club fundrasier, we are currently contacting those caught on film to see how much they are willing to pay to suppress the publishing of the aforesaid images (was that actually a tear in Keith's eye while the womens team related their experiences?).
Liz and Don Vogel received the President’s Award in recognition for their enormous contribution to the club this year. Their contribution includes the management the canteen (our principle revenue raiser) and also many behind the scenes organisation and involvement in all aspects of the club. Many thanks Don & Liz.
A couple of quick shots to start with:
Councillor Margaret deWitt presents Keith with a commemorative retirement plaque
Dr Bruce Flegg presents Keith with his award for exceeding three years (times 3 for Keith)
Keith: I'd like to thank the womens team for always listening to me throughout the season.
Womens team: Check out the latest New Idea, oh, Brad and Angeline are still together, sorry Keith, did you say something?
Yes, we found a photo Keith didn't get into... he kept showing up everywhere else. Eighty people enjoyed a sumptuous banquet, complete with soccer ball desserts for the 10th anniversary of Colleges United.
And a big thank you to President Adrian Wellington, who in the fine tradition of club presidents forgot to thank himself, despite all the work put in arranging the night, playing MC, and supressing Keith from his rendition of the Snurrebocken. Thank you Adrian for a great nights celebration of 10 years, though we just don't believe the Keith retirement part.
