Juniors

Colleges United is a community based soccer club, catering for children from 5 to 18 years of age.

We are affiliated with Football Brisbane Incorporated (FBI), and follow the international soccer rules of FIFA (Federation of International Football Association).

Girls and boys play Small Sided Football (MiniRoos) in mixed teams, with equal time on the field for all players, regardless of skill level. There are no best and fairest awards with all children receiving a trophy on Presentation Day. There are no points tables until Under 12. The idea is to participate, have fun, get some exercise, improve skills and make some new friends.

Colleges United plays an important community role and at all times, encourages equal playing time for all children regardless of gender or ability. Our emphasis is on participation, fair play, skills enhancement and the personal enjoyment to be gained from playing a team sport.

Our Club encourages a lot of social activity and has the facilities for groups to use our ground for team and social events. Team photo day and trophy day are two annual events for all members and players to enjoy. As a non-profit volunteer organisation, we rely on the invaluable assistance of our parents to assist with the coaching and managing of teams, and the on-going maintenance of our facilities.

Squirts Program

The Squirts program promotes football-based exercise and activity for 3-5 year olds who are not able to be registered to play in age-specific matches.

The program is not a “technical coaching” program, but a tempered introduction to the sport of football. The very basics of the game are introduced and experienced by the participants through different drills, practices and games. The total program consists of 50 activities, presented as fun exercises.

The football itself is the main tool and this is utilised as much as possible. Elite players are not the ultimate outcome we are seeking, rather the development of the individual participant’s gross motor skills in ball control, jumping, turning, balance, agility, movement and general co-ordination are all skills to be acquired and improve.

The program will enhance the opportunities for young children to receive quality, consistent coaching.  In acquiring basic skills free of competition, participating children will not only learn correct technique but will likely develop a love of the “world game”.

Colleges United Football Club will be running a six week Squirts program for children aged 3-5 years in 2017 (dates to be confirmed).  You can register and pay for this program using the online system at www.myfootballclub.com.au.
